Setting up NOAA storm alerts

Mobile & Canvassing3 min read

Scaffold monitors NOAA weather data and sends you an instant alert the moment a storm with significant hail hits any zip code you're watching.

1

Go to Storm Tracking in the left sidebar.

2

Click Add Watch Zone and enter the zip codes or city names you want to monitor. You can add as many zones as needed.

3

Set your alert threshold — the minimum hail size that triggers a notification (typically 1.0 inch for insurance-eligible damage).

4

Choose your notification method: push notification (recommended), email, or both.

5

Click Save. You'll receive a test notification to confirm alerts are working.

6

When a qualifying storm hits one of your watch zones, you get an alert with: the affected zip codes, estimated hail size, storm timestamp, and a link to launch canvassing mode for that area.

Add all zip codes in your service area — not just your city. Storms rarely follow municipal boundaries.

Storm data refreshes every 15 minutes from NOAA's public database. Alerts fire within minutes of a confirmed storm event.
